Preparing for the treatment
How to prepare for powder brows?
Powder brows (ombre brows) are the most popular permanent eyebrow makeup method in Wrocław — and for good reason. Instead of drawing individual hair strokes, the PMU artist builds a soft, powdery shading: pigment is applied with a machine in hundreds of microscopic dots — denser at the tail of the brow, lighter at the head. The effect resembles brows filled with shadow or pomade: natural, yet long-lasting. For the pigmentation to take evenly and the colour to heal exactly as designed, the skin needs good preparation. Here is everything worth knowing before your visit:
Start with a consultation
We will look at your brows, skin and the natural direction of hair growth. We will match the brow geometry to your facial features and the pigment colour to your complexion — always a touch lighter than intuition suggests, because healed pigment optically darkens in the skin.
24 hours before: no alcohol or strong coffee
Alcohol and large doses of caffeine thin the blood and raise blood pressure — the skin bleeds more, and blood literally pushes the pigment out. The result can heal unevenly and lighter. Skip energy drinks the day before as well.
Two weeks before: no henna or tweezing
Powder henna, lamination and tweezer shaping irritate the skin around the brow arch, and pigmentation needs calm, non-irritated skin. Do your last brow shaping no later than 2 weeks before the visit.
2–4 weeks before: no retinol, acids or tanning
Retinoids, AHA/BHA acids, peels and strong anti-aging cosmetics thin the epidermis around the brows, and a fresh tan is micro-damage to the skin. Both worsen pigment absorption and the longevity of the healed colour.
Report medication and supplements in advance
Blood-thinning medication (aspirin, ibuprofen), antibiotics and supplements such as omega-3 affect bleeding and healing — let us know about them before the treatment. If you are in the middle of an antibiotic course, we will simply move the appointment to a calmer moment.
On the day of the treatment
Arrive rested and after a meal — brow pigmentation takes about 2–3 hours. Leave your brows in their natural state: the "before" photo and pre-draw are done on clean skin. The machine only starts once you approve the shape.
Contraindications — when to postpone?
We do not perform permanent makeup during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with uncontrolled diabetes, active skin conditions around the brows (psoriasis, eczema, active herpes), a tendency to keloid scarring, or during chemotherapy — there we require the attending doctor’s approval. In doubt? Write to us before booking: we will honestly tell you whether it is a good moment or better to wait. Health always beats the calendar.
Aftercare
Powder brows after the treatment — how to protect the result?
Half the success is the PMU artist’s work; the other half happens at your home. Permanent brows heal in 7–14 days, and the colour fully stabilises after about 4 weeks. During that time the skin goes through several stages worth knowing — so nothing surprises you, and the healed effect is exactly as designed.
Fresh pigmentation
The brows are darker and sharper than they will be in the end — that is normal; right after the treatment pigment also sits in the epidermis. Gently cleanse the brows with boiled water, dry by dabbing (no rubbing) and follow exactly the care guidelines we will discuss after the treatment.
Flaking
The epidermis starts to flake and small scabs may appear. Rule number one: do not scratch, rub or "help". A torn-off scab takes the pigment with it and leaves lighter patches in the healed brows.
Ghosting — the colour "disappears"
After the epidermis sheds, saturation can drop by as much as half — this is so-called ghosting, the most common reason for panic after pigmentation. Relax: the pigment is in the skin. As the epidermis regenerates, the colour returns and saturates over the next 2–3 weeks.
Stabilisation and touch-up
The colour has settled — we see the real, healed result. Once fully healed, we assess saturation and symmetry; if a fragment healed lighter, we arrange a touch-up pigmentation. It is a standard part of the process, not a correction of a mistake.
Longevity and refreshing
Permanent brows last from one to three years — depending on skin type (oily skin "eats" pigment faster), sun exposure and care. SPF cream on the brows is the simplest way to extend the life of the colour. After that, a refresh pigmentation is enough.
For the first two weeks avoid everything that soaks, heats or sweats: the pool, sauna, tanning beds, intense workouts and long hot baths. Do not apply makeup directly onto healing brows and skip retinol and acids in that area for a month. Sounds like a lot? In practice it is a handful of small habits that protect the result — and your two hours in the chair.
A frequent question: how does permanent makeup differ from a tattoo? PMU pigments are less concentrated than tattoo inks and applied more shallowly — that is why permanent brows lighten and fade over time instead of changing colour, and the shape can be adjusted as fashion and your features change. That is an advantage, not a flaw: brows from a decade ago do not lock you out of a new look.
